How to Wash Your Women's Suit

The golden rule of suit care: less washing is more. Premium wool, linen, and tailored fabrics are naturally resilient and do not need frequent washing. Over-washing is one of the most common causes of premature wear, colour fading, and loss of structure.

Spot Cleaning (Recommended for Minor Marks)

For small stains or marks, spot cleaning is always the first choice. Use a clean white cloth dampened with cold water and a drop of gentle fabric detergent. Dab — never rub — the affected area, working from the outside of the stain inward. Allow to air dry naturally away from direct heat.

Hand Washing (For Linen & Light Fabrics)

  Submerge the garment and gently agitate the water with your hands. Do not wring, twist, or scrub.

  Press the water out gently by rolling the garment in a clean dry towel. Never wring.

Dry Cleaning (Best for Wool & Structured Jackets)

For structured wool suits, dry cleaning remains the gold standard. We recommend professional dry cleaning no more than once or twice per season. Always use a reputable dry cleaner who specialises in fine garments.

How to Iron & Steam Your Suit

Wrinkles are inevitable — but they are also easily resolved with the right technique. The key is to use gentle heat and always protect the fabric surface.

Steaming (Preferred Method)

A handheld garment steamer is the safest and most effective way to remove wrinkles from a suit. Hold the steamer 2–3 cm from the fabric surface and move it slowly downward. Allow the garment to cool and set before wearing or storing.

Ironing (When Steaming Is Not Sufficient)

  Set your iron to the appropriate temperature — wool: medium-low; linen: medium; silk blends: low.

  Always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the suit fabric. Direct contact can cause irreversible shine marks on wool.

How to Store Your Suit Properly

How you store your suit between wears is just as important as how you clean it. Improper storage is the leading cause of permanent creasing, shoulder distortion, and fabric deterioration.

The Right Hanger

Always hang your suit jacket on a wide, contoured wooden or padded hanger that matches the width of the shoulders. Thin wire hangers will distort the shoulder seams over time.

Garment Bags

Store your suit in a breathable fabric garment bag — not plastic. Plastic traps moisture and can cause mildew and fabric yellowing over time.

Wardrobe Spacing

Give your suits room to breathe. Overcrowding a wardrobe causes permanent creasing. Ideally, leave at least 2–3 cm of space between each hanging garment.

How to Prevent Your Suit from Losing Its Shape

Shape retention is the hallmark of a quality bespoke suit — and with the right habits, your suit will hold its structure beautifully for years.

After Every Wear
